Monitoring MX-Record Changes [CHK-1034]
This customer check verifies if any changes have been made to the MX record of the email domains for which the tenant receives mail.
Rationale
The MX record in DNS determines how email addressed to your domain should be delivered. Incorrect settings can lead to email being misdirected, potentially due to human error or malicious activity.
Fix
An automated fix is available through Attic. If the output is Notice, indicating the MX record has changed, we advise reviewing the change carefully. We will share the details of the change with you via a Ticket.
Manual steps:
- Review the changes to the MX record.
- If the change is legitimate, no action is required.
- If the change is not recognized, immediate action needs to be taken.
Impact
Ensuring the MX record is correct prevents misdirection of emails, safeguarding your communication flow.
More Information
MX records are part of your email domain's DNS settings, guiding senders of email to your organization. Changes to these settings should be double-checked for accuracy and legitimacy.
