End Customer Onboarding in the Attic Partner Portal

Step-by-step explanation for activating Attic services and configuring access types.

Subscriptions

The Attic Partner Portal offers different ways to activate Attic services for your end customers. This article explains the various screens that appear during the onboarding flow.

Quick navigation:

It starts in the Subscriptions menu. (direct link):

Click on + New to add a subscription. (direct link)

In the next screen, you can choose the type of solution you want to add.

After confirming your selection, the new solution will be created and you can begin onboarding. For Microsoft 365 services, onboarding starts with selecting the type of access.

Access Type

Begin by choosing an Access Type. The available options are:

  1. Via GDAP (requires a Microsoft CSP relationship with the end customer)
  2. via App (requires authorization by a global admin in the end customer’s tenant)
    1. Full Access - enables the use of one-click fixes
    2. Read-Only - fixes must be performed manually by you

App-Based Onboarding

The final screen provides several options for granting authorization in the end customer’s tenant. In all cases, the displayed URL is the location where authorization is given.

  • Start Onboarding - use this if you have a global admin account in the tenant you want to onboard
  • Forward by Email - opens a popup that allows you to send the URL to someone with the correct permissions, including a notes field for adding your own request
  • Copy -copies the URL to your clipboard so you can share it through any preferred method, such as Teams

Read-Only Permissions:

This onboarding process consists of two steps due to an additional requirement for correctly reading Exchange Online.

GDAP Onboarding

If you are a Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider (CSP), you establish management relationships with the Microsoft 365 tenants of your end customers in the Microsoft Partner Center. Attic connects to your Microsoft Partnercenter and therefore knows which end customers you already have a relationship with. Attic can be activated on those tenants without additional authorization, using the permissions that you as a partner already have.

In the Attic Partner Portal, you can also generate a new invitation to establish a CSP relationship with a new end customer.

The URL shown on the final screen must be forwarded to the respective end customer, where someone with global admin rights can activate the CSP relationship. After that, Attic will be able to validate the relationship and onboarding can proceed.
